Had a great Interest in Art, in fact love it a lot! During my “O”level Math class, You can always see me scribbling away in my text book, oblivious of my Math Teacher, hate Math, was never good in it at all. Surprise, Surprise… being good in art, I failed it badly during my sec 1 and sec 2 art class and didn’t even sit for it during my ‘O’ level examination.(when I thought of grades), I just couldn’t draw, it restrict me within those so called boundaries. To me art should not be defined, it’s something abstract and each has his unique display and how could it be narrowed down with mere grading…No way! During my Poly, there was only one tutorial which I enjoyed to the max…my Art class and my lecturer Robin Carmichael was once of the best! She gives everyone a grade A, that is what I call a true artist and someone who is able to appreciate Art at its best. Now am back once again drawing…but this time for someone who appreciates detail at its best…Yeaps…my students whom are autistic…They enjoy looking at the cue cards I drew for them, they get excited over the colour and the “story” the picture tells…and seeing a smile on their face is the greatest reward I get for my Art work…who cares about grades, Hey I’ve got people who appreciate my drawing a lot. Today one of my student came up to me, Flashed a card at me, something which I taught him yesterday and guess which card he flashed to me…it was a girl smiling…Boy was I touched, who ever said autistic kids don’t converse well…they converse very well deep within, deep within, touching the heart. That small action was really well enough for me to be gleaming for weeks.
aaawwwww…
and so the saying goes, “a picture describes a thousand words…” or is it ah…. ehehehehe
